Hopefully I’ll finish this screen today and print a new shirt for The Geeky Cauldron! I’ll probably wear it to class tomorrow, too. :)
Well folks, I survived another quarter at SCAD! This one was pretty rough, though. I was working full-time, going to school full-time, for half the quarter I was trying to balance having a relationship, then the other half I was trying to recover from said failed relationship, and I also had the art history professor from hell. All that aside, though, I do feel that my drawing has improved, which is exciting. This was my final for my Drawing II class. It’s a symbolic self-portrait where we had to choose 3-5 objects that we felt represented us and draw them as a still life. It was pretty open-ended, but I chose a very basic still-life setup. This is by far my most personal drawing. I put a lot of thought into the objects I chose (a bell jar, a pair of scissors, and a paper crane). Ironically, this drawing took me the least amount of time out of all the drawings I did this semester, and yet I feel it’s the best one. I dunno how that happened. It took me all of 3.5 hours. When I finished, I felt like I should work on it more just because how could I be finished that quickly?! Anyway, the class really loved it and said some really lovely things about it, which was such a relief because it is terrifying putting something that personal on display and having others critique it. Especially when you have to explain it. WITH WORDS. Ack. But all’s well that ends well. :) Next quarter I get to start my SEQUENTIAL ART classes! So. Effing. Stoked. I can’t wait to get these stories in my head onto paper, and to learn the crap out of some SEQA classes. This next year is going to be CRAAAAAZY and so totally exciting!
